January 21 1996 Mom can you hear me? I miss you so much. I miss your responses – the feel of your touch I wish you could sit here and smile again In so many ways you were always my friend. Mom can you see me? Reach out for my hand. Your comfort and guidance are needed again. I long for a moment to hear your advice Yet, our time has been taken at such a high price. Mom can you feel me? I’m scared to go on. You’ve always been present, so honest and strong. I thought we’d share many more years in our lives But despite prayers and eff orts the cancer survived Mom can you watch me? – protect me from harm You cared for me well and I feel so disarmed The emptiness hovers, my heart is in pain I need you to hold me and kiss me again Momma I love you with all of my heart I know that in spirit we won’t be apart When I reach out for answers I’m left holding air Mom can you help me? Mom are you there?

About the Author
Lisa was born May 23, 1958, raised in Los Angeles, California, lived in Toronto, Canada, then in Ashville, North Carolina, and returned to Los Angeles, where she died on November 6, 1997 at the age of 39. She graduated the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) in Communications and then went on to pursue a Master's degree and Graduate degree in Psychology (M.A., PsyD) at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. She earned the title of Dr. Lisa Ladin-Bramet, May of 1997.
