We gave our daughter a rock tumbler for Christmas. It was delightful to see her open the box and marvel at the colorful canister and various rock and mineral samples that were included with the kit. We were all somewhat surprised to read the instructions that called for the rocks to be tumbled for eight straight days. For two days the samples tumbled with the carbide grit and we could not help but to check the canister and see if any progress had been made. The rocks did not look much different from when we first entered them in the tumbler. It was going to take the full eight days, as described in the directions. Focus Scripture II Corinthians 1: 3, 4 Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with comfort we ourselves have received from God. After eight days in the tumbler my daughter and I were delighted to see what the painstaking and noisy process had done. We are like rocks and minerals in a tumbler. The promises of God are very directive and steadfast. If we stay the course of looking to Him for guidance through all sorts of trials in our life, we will draw closer. When we draw closer, the hard edges are taken off and the agate within starts to come out. Just as there are no two agates that are alike, neither are there two people the same that go through the lapidary process in this wonderful preamble of life.
