About the Book
Wings of Friendship, is a children’s picture book that deals with friendship, diversity and love. The magnificent monarch butterfly is used as an educational tool to teach about the biological process of metamorphosis. How the caterpillar changes into a beautiful butterfly over a short period of time. The book also uses this process of change and development to show how differences and diversity can affect feelings. The character Ollie goes through many changes that are not the same as his friends but in the end he is accepted for his differences. The magnificent images give life to the butterfly characters. Their tolerance and behavior exhibit the importance of friendship and love in relationships. The beautiful illustrations help to carry this message from beginning to the end. Children will quickly relate and identify with the characters in the book and fall in love with the visual illustrations on each page.
About the Author
Ronald R. Blandon was born and raised in New Jersey. After graduating from Rutgers University he spent 25 years teaching in Middletown, NJ. He earned his Doctorate in Childhood Education in 1997. He currently lives with his wife in Little Silver, NJ. His first book, Portentous Tales, was published in 1998. Illustrators, Manana Restiano and Nana Samanishvili were both born and raised in Tbilisi, The Republic of Georgia. Manana Restiano studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Moscow. Currently she resides in Charlotte, NC where she teaches piano at the Charlotte Academy of Music. Nana Samanishvili resides in Tbilisi, Georgia. She has illustrated several children’s books. Presently she teaches at the Art Academy and at The Theater and Film University of Georgia.
