Winnie and Thunderose

In the horse running corral, two colts, Winnie and Thunderose, run in circles. They stop to face each other, roll over from side to side, kicking up dirt in the process. They get back up and shake the dirt off like dogs shake off water.

Two children of the ranch, Randy and Paula, watch as Winnie and Thunderose continue in their playful rollings, prancings, runnings, and neighing.

Randy and Paula walk over and open the gate. They enter the corral and shoo Winnie and Thunderose out. Winnie and Thunderose run at top speed out of the corral into the open land, the back fifty of dry wooded acres. They have done this many times before.

Over the streams, up the hill, they spray on the raw land at hyper speed, turning to dodge trees and bushes, each trying to beat the other up the hills, as though their lives depended on it.

After another big day, Winnie and Thunderose are in the calm of their stalls in the feeding barn, munching on oats and hay softened with water.
