Away in a stable on a night dark and deep A tiny little mouse was about to go to sleep. All of a sudden “creak,” went the door. The mouse jumped up from his spot on the floor. In came 1 sheep with a worried look. Is it alright if we share your nook? Well hmmm? He thought, “I guess”, said the mouse. So they all settled down in the stable house. Away in a stable on a night dark and deep Two sheep and a mouse were about to go to sleep. All of a sudden “creak,” went the door. They all jumped up from their spot on the floor In came 2 cows taking their time “Could we share your stable so divine?” “Well hmmm?” they thought, “I guess”, said the mouse. So they all settled down in the little stable house.

About the Author
Nancy was inspired to write this fun version of the Christmas story while teaching kindergarten. She needed to find something that would help the students learn to read and double as a Reader’s Theatre for a Christmas concert. She couldn’t find one so she wrote one.
