About the Book

Consists of short stories, based on a collection of events and true life experiences which portray a professional career in law enforcement from street cop to police chief over a period of 38 years from May 1950 to October 1987. Certain stories reflect the ever on-going opposition from the union, which, along with the political area, created turmoil for approximately 22 years. Without question the merit system became the most controversial subject for approximately 22 years from the first time it had been proposed by a chief of police.

I was fortunate to be assigned to Ocean Beach Park, in the period of the 50's and 60's, and I might add I had a "love affair" with the beach that lasted 19 wonderful years. Not only did I have a love affair with the beach itself, but I fell in love with a circus performer. Needless to say, we fell in love, married, and had a son. But it wasn't until 25 years later, I found my son, when I became police chief and the circus came to town. Certain stories are serious, unusual, some are humorous, while other stories will reflect the different types of incidents that took place in this city of about 30,000 people.
