About the Author

I was born a small town in Arkansas, I grew up on a big huge farm where cotton, cattle, rice, soybeans were grown . I attended a predominantly black school in a rule area. I was raised to be a Christian person, believing in God. sharing my love with and toward other people. Attended church was a demand. I grew up with the Baptist believe; I later move to Pentecostal , a movement where the teaching is very different and more strict about its members keeping the Bible teaching, living up to God's standards. Reading our Bibles study it, adapt it into our hearts and spirit for our daily living. Under the international leadership of Bishop Charles H. Mason Charles Harrison Mason founded the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). In doing so, he preserved and cultivated the religious culture of his ancestors as well as fighting for religious freedom of expression and an integrated church. He was the son of former slaves and born in Shelby County, Tennessee. Because of the family’s poverty, young Mason worked as a sharecropper and did not receive a formal education, but he still learned how to read and write. As a child, Mason was influenced by the religion of his parents and other former slaves. As I was influenced by him ,and the Pentecostal movement. I too was a sharecropper son never getting a high school education. the seventh child out of 11 children ,the father of three children of my own Bishop Charles Mason admired his parents religious and devoted himself to God through prayer and fasting. Spontaneous, singing, and shouting. At age twelve, Mason embraced the Afro-Baptist faith; he was later baptized and worked in his older brother’s church. I too continue in fasting and praying as the international church set out standards with fasting twice per week Tuesdays and Fridays. I 'm still involved in that movement and will continue throughout my life. Bishop Mason died in Detroit on November 17, 1961. When he died, the COGIC claimed one million members. Today, COGIC is the largest African American denomination in the United States, with eight million members worldwide. Thank you. FR2266. Franklin's Store franklinmwatson.com Franklin M. Watson
