Now, the day that Ginger gave birth to Hadar she waited until her master came out to clean stalls. It was about 12:00 P.M., and I was also to meet the vet at the barn to check on her because she was very large, and a few days past due….I was talking with my family and friends, as I lead Ginger, with Hadar (being about four hours old) following behind. I walked her up to the back lot that had an electric fencing around it, with plastic grocery bags tied to the wire so the horse could see the wire. Jimmy had tied these bags to the fence for the horse’s safety.
As I led Ginger I noticed the electric wire, and plastic bag was laying on the ground wound into a circle. Now Hadar was not following close to Ginger’s side like most babies would. So I was concerned that Hadar might walk through the wound wire lying on the ground. Not knowing if one of the boarders turned off the electricity, I walked Ginger as far as I could get her from the wire lying on the ground. If Hadar would have acted like a normal baby and stayed close to Ginger’s side we would have missed the wire experience. But no, Hadar stepped right in the center of the wound wire with a plastic bag attached, and sure enough the “juice” was on. Off he went running and frightened of this big monster on his leg. Holding Ginger all I could think of was to holler WHOA. Ginger knew all the voice commands but Hadar didn’t. But out of my mouth came the Word WHOA!! Ginger LOUDLY WHINNIED, and Hadar stopped in his tracks and never moved a muscle. Everyone stood looking stunned. My mother said, Staci are you going to get that wire, and bag off his leg. I was still in shock, he was still and never moved. I answered my mother and said, yes I guess so.
Now anyone who has horses, especially young ones knows that the first time you pick up a baby’s foot especially the back leg. They always fight, and pull away from you because they are not used to standing on three legs and keeping their balance. Knowing this I was a little concerned about how Hadar would respond. He had no halter or rope of any kind on him. Thinking about all these things as I walked toward him, all I could think of was to say Whoa, Whoa. I finally reached him continuing to say Whoa. I put my hand on his rump, he still never moved a muscle, Whoa, I ran my hand gently down his back leg, Whoa, I picked up his foot, he still never moved to my surprise. Whoa, whoa, I unwrapped the wire with the bag making a plastic bag sound. He still didn’t move, what did Ginger tell him?
(as PSALM 46:10 says Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.)
Hadar was obedient to his mother’s command. We should be obedient to our Heavenly Fathers Commands and rest in His safety. I finished unwrapping the wire, and bag off his leg with no problems. He let me put his foot back down, and continued standing there till I got Ginger, and led her and him back into the stall. My family and friends were very surprised with this incident, and so was I. What did Ginger say to Hadar? In writing this Love letter God showed me a Whoa, within one of the meanings of Hadar’s name “Glory”.
(ISAIAH 5:11-17 Woe to those who rise early in the morning, That they may follow intoxicating drink; Who continue until night, till wine inflames them! The harp and the strings, The tambourine and flute, And wine are in their feasts; But they do not regard the work of the Lord, Nor consider the operation of His hands. Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge; Their honorable men are famished, And their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore Sheol has enlarged itself And opened its mouth beyond measure; Their glory and their multitude and their pomp, And he who is jubilant, shall descend into it. People shall be brought down, Each man shall be humbled, And the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled. But the Lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, And God who is Holy shall be Hallowed in Righteousness. Then the lambs shall feed in their pasture, And in the waste places of the fat ones strangers shall eat.)
I always wondered what Ginger might have told Hadar to get him to stand still like that. Now, I believe God revealed His WORD to Ginger just as He did with the animals to get them to go into the Ark with Noah. God created the world BY HIS WORD. I have always felt so bad that animal’s, and all of Gods creation has had to suffer because of our disobedience.
