About the Book
2011 is the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. In order to bring it to the attention of children/youth uninformed of this event and adults who've never forgotten, Linda has written "Remember . . . Remember Your Name." It is a fictional story dedicated to all who lost their life or were affected by the Chernobyl disaster on April 26, 1986.
About the Author
Linda P. Beard considers herself a versatile person with wide interests. She has children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren, which has made her close to that genre of readers. This story describes a scene that might have taken place in 1986 about an event today's children may know nothing - yet to which adults can connect as well. Linda taught piano lessons for many years which gave her a close relationship with children. Also, having lost 3 grandchildren in the past 6 years, Linda's tender heart is sympathetic to people in suffering circumstances. While Linda is a "late bloomer," graduating from Wesley College at age 50 (with a degree in music), she has discovered an aptitude for writing. In 2010 her first book, "Twixt Cato & D'Lo (& other places I've lived)" was published and has been received by its readers with great success and positive feedback. It is a collection of her poetry interwoven with some of her life experiences. Linda lives in Richland, a growing suburb of Mississippi's capital city, where she enjoys the "busyness" of retirement. She plays the organ at her church, attends a weekly Bible Study group, bowls in a weekly league with her husband, participates in a Red Hat group, enjoys cooking, watching movies, traveling, and of course, writing.
