VICTORY THROUGH THE PAIN Chapter Seven The previous chapters covered many things that singles encountered within their request for marital bliss. This chapter will deal with the root of many problems that singles face. As a child I used to hear Mahalia Jackson sing " Weeping May Endure for a Night, but Joy cometh in the Morning". I did not have a clue as to what this woman of God was singing until I began to grow up. As I grew up physically, spiritually and emotionally, a time came in my life where this passage of scripture in Psalm 30:5 became my reality. In life I learned that God wants us to walk in Victory even through pain. At the age of 14 years old physically I had developed very rapidly and was noticed by the boys in my school, but I was very much an introvert. I was self conscious because my breast had developed. I had friends but we usually saw each other at school because I lived in a rural area. I lived in a protected environment, my Grandmother did not allow us to spend the night away from home often or leave the house unless we were attended by trust worthy people, relatives, church friends or neighbors. I wanted to attend a basketball game to see my junior high school team play. I has a girlish crush on one of the star athletics, and he had a crush on me. We became friends and he highly respected me. I was afraid to ask my Grandmother's permission to go to the game because she had declined my previous request, but I really wanted to go that night. She said that I could go with my cousin who was in high school. He was attending the game at my school so I went and had a great time, it was the most fun I had ever had, our team won the game, and my friend had a good night with the high scores. We saw each other, talked and then I left. My cousin wanted to spend time with his girlfriend so he asks his friend to take me home. The friend was no stranger to me and therefore I had no reason not to trust him. As we were riding down the Highway, he turned off the main highway onto a side road, so I asked where are we going, and then he began to fondle my breast, and I told him no, but he pushed me under the drivers seat locking my left shoulder under the steering wheel. He sucked my tongue until it had swollen up and I could not speak, he pulled my pants down and penetrated me with force, the pain was excruciating because it was at this time that I lost my virginity. This whole ordeal seem as though it lasted for an hour, I can't remember exactly how long but when it was over there was complete silence in the car, unbelief and perhaps denial of what had just occurred. I remembered the boy saying I'm sorry I didn't mean it. I remember sitting there with tears not responding verbally to his words. He drove us back to my cousin and when he saw my face, he knew that something happen to me. They stood a distance from the car and talked, I heard yelling and screaming, L heard my cousin ask him, do you know what you have done. Her grandmother trusted me to get her home safely. I couldn't say a word about this situation, because I was embarrassed, hurt, and very disappointed. I feared telling my grandmother and especially my mother because I knew that this would hurt her and could possible cause a lot of trouble between the two families.
