Most of us grow up learning to put ourselves down, believing certain things about ourselves, or comparing ourselves negatively to others. Affirmations were first spoken to you by your parents, then maybe your brothers and sisters, grandparents and many other family members. Later on there are likely to be your teachers, friends, and even people who you did not like. To tell you the truth you have been using affirmations yourself throughout your life. This is likely to continue until the end of your life. Some of these affirmations were positive and others were negative. The negative affirmations that you may have heard throughout your life are unlikely to be true! Such affirmations may have put you down (“you’ll never amount to anything”), or diminished your natural abilities (“you have two left feet”). However, not all negative affirmations heard during your lifetime have been deliberate. Many may have been said without malice or forethought. Yet they may have each had a negative effect on your life. How you chose to deal with what others have said to you has determined and shaped your character. The affirmations that you accepted and acted upon have determined your success and your ability to succeed. You can choose to take control of your life and master your mind and your future with the use of positive affirmations. You will continue to say things to yourself about yourself for the rest of your life, and therefore it makes good sense to say encouraging, uplifting, inspirational and empowering words. But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
In the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit on all
flesh: and your and your fi fi ls Islands prophesy, your young men shall see
visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. And on my servants and
on my handmaidens in those days will I pour out my Spirit, and they
prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and
signs on the earth, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; The
sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the day
the Lord, In this great and glorious day. So whoever calls on the
name of the Lord shall be saved.
If I preach the Gospel, this is not an issue for me glory, because
necessity is laid upon me, and woe to me if I do not preach
the Gospel! If I do a good heart, I have a reward: but if I
do despite me is a burden to me confi ed.
I'm all because of the Gospel, afi n I may share. I therefore so run,
not as uncertainly; knock, not as one beating the air.
But I pommel my body and I am subject, for fear of being
myself rejected, after preaching to others.
