Please Note: ILLUSTRATIONS OMITTED Jimmy James is a golden tabby cat. He lives with a happy family—mum, dad, and four year old twins—in a house with a garden at the back. Jimmy James loves the garden. He knows all the sunny spots, where he can lay down and warm himself! _ Beyond the fence at the bottom of the garden is a farmer's field. Cows live there. They love to graze. To find out about them, the golden tabby cat leaves the garden to investigate. He tries to talk to one of the cows, but she doesn’t seem to notice him. Jimmy James tries harder, but when he gets close to the cow, he realises that cows are very big! He arches his back and hisses, and the cow believes that it is the sound of a snake. She turns and runs and soon all the other cows are running with her. They make a great stampede.

About the Book
Jimmy James is a friendly golden tabby cat. He lives with his family in a house with a garden. At the end of the garden is a fence and, beyond the fence, is a farmer’s field. Cows graze there and Jimmy James is very curious about them. One day he decides to go into the field to investigate. What happens next is both surprising and amusing.
About the Author
John W. Paull has always worked with children—first as a teacher and most recently as an education consultant and inspector. He comes from a largenorth London family , and he currently lives in a town in Hertfordshire, where he continues his work with children as a member of the governing body of a local school. In fact this is where he first met the illustrator of 'The Great Stampede'. She was a pupil at the same school. The illustrator, who is now 12-years-old, wrote the following. 'My name is Mia Dickson. I love my pets, friends and family. I really enjoyed drawing the illustrations for this book'.
