About the Book

As we know, our marshlands and bird havens are slowly disappearing. Our Canadian geese as well as many other species of the wild must find sanctuary closer to where people live. Our story takes place near a busy gravel pit just outside of town. Giant leaders roar back and forth every day on the roadway. This is a story of man’s kindness toward a pair of nesting geese and of his generosity in order to keep them and their family safe. There is humor involved when the gander attacks the giant loader in order to protect his mate and her eggs. When the goslings finally learn to fly, their funny antics of screeching and flapping and scooting on top of the water disappears, and they become graceful young adults, ready to fly south for the winter.
