About the Book

When Marigold, Goldie, finds herself returning home for the burial of her favorite Uncle Yetis, she also finds herself confronted with many family issues and secrets that are resurrected upon her return. Will she be up to the test of facing these hidden family secrets in light of her own personal challenges? Can she handle the “authorities” who have always threatened her personal freedom, or should she accept her responsibility for the direction in which her life is moving? One thing she will have to admit is that there is no “fun at all” in funerals, and the event is definitely for the living, as Uncle Yetis said. She also learns most significantly that life is about the feeling of being happy, and no matter how many lies are told, the truth will eventually surface stronger than ever as she finds her golden hour as a self-rising flower.

About the Author

Born in Baldwyn, Mississippi, B. L. Gordon was the only girl in a family of six children. She currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee, with her daughter and five-year-old granddaughter Aleyah, who is her pride and joy. B. L. considered herself to be a true tomboy until her junior high school days at Carver High School in Memphis, Tennessee. After thirty-five years of marriage, B. L. found herself becoming a widow at the age of fifty-seven. For her, the desire to continue with her life or just let go became an inner struggle that made her search for the real meaning of life more urgently. Her quest has led her to be more, more thankful and grateful for each waking moment. The importance of giving and forgiving are now her primary focus on a daily basis. Being happy and appreciating the abundance of the universe takes priority over long-held personal beliefs and traditions. As a relatively new writer on the literary scene, she brings a fresh twist to family life with her insight into the quest for happiness, honesty, and truth within the dynamics of the family setting and personal relationships. B. L. is also a 1975 graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. She recalls many interesting revelations regarding life’s simple truths during her college years. Her style of writing is entertaining and challenges your inner emotions, causing you to ponder over how you have evolved mentally, physically, socially, and egotistically. Her flair for creative expression is liberating.
