Growing Up Joyfully

Every time Ryan would visit his Grandfather, they would sit in the living room together. On the table sat a beautiful globe of the world. Ryan would admire the globe that his Grandfather made many years ago. Every now and again his Grandfather would tell him the story of how the globe was made and why it is so special.

“It all started when your Dad was around your age. One day your father came home with a special school project. He wanted to create a globe of the world. This was no simple task. It required a lot of diligent work for many days. We worked so hard together to get it just right. Can you believe it? Your dad won first place in the contest for his globe of the world. Since that day the globe has sat on this table. I’m so proud of him for doing his best!” His grandfather explained.

Ryan hoped that one day his grandfather would give him the globe. Just the thought made him so happy that his eyes started to sparkle with joy. His grandfather acknowledged Ryan’s desire and decided to give him the globe. Ryan rejoiced with happiness. He hugged his grandfather and then quickly rushed out the door.

Joyfully , Ryan ran down to the meadow to show his animal friends his great globe of the world that his grandfather had given to him. It was so amazing for Ryan to see which part of the world he had lived for a time being. He was so excited to share what he had just learned. He didn’t waste any time. Ryan went running down the hill as fast as he could, but all of a sudden, he stepped into a hole. Ryan tripped and fell, then tumbled straight down the hill. He sat there on the ground for a moment. Ryan could hardly believe what had just happened. It was a big surprise to him that he wasn’t hurt. However, he was devastated as he discovered that his globe had cracked open when he had fallen.

“How am I going to show my animal friends where I have lived now?” Ryan asked himself.
