The mighty King Levi rules his region with a firm hand. He takes great effort in protecting his pride’s enormous territory. All the other creatures obey and respect him. So when he heard that there was unrest stirring in his domain, he wanted to see first hand what was going on. Although he seldom leaves his chamber unaccompanied, the king went out to inspect his territory. He left his pride behind to venture on his own. The mighty king was not afraid to roam alone because he knew his strength and power. He knew none of the other animals would dare challenge him. With his razor sharp claws and powerful jaw, he could destroy any creature with little effort. As King Levi was roaming through his domain, he cross path with a small creature name Buckie. The king did not like small creatures like Buckie and roared to show his disapproval. He believed small creatures caused big problems in the jungle.

About the Book
The story is about the first encounter of a mighty lion king named Levi and a small frightened creature named Buckie. They lived in the grassland of the jungle. Both had a dislike and fear for each other. It was based on misplaced assumptions and lack of knowledge. Through talking with each other, the dislike and fearful beliefs were lessened as they slowly began to understand each other and what each contributed to their environment. A friendship was formed based on respect and trust as they begin to explore the reason for unrest in the region.
About the Author
Norma J. McKayhan always wanted to write books for children. This is her first in a series of children’s books she plans to write. Her desire is to help children and young adults handle the problems they face today and promote positive outcomes. During her life, she has faced several personal obstacles, including surviving breast cancer since 1994. She has a master’s degree in business administration, a Bachelor of Science degree in social psychology, and an associate degree in organizational behavior. She wanted a career in child psychology, but found other opportunities in the US Army, active duty and federal service. She was married twenty-seven years and has one daughter. She currently works and lives in the Washington, DC, area for the federal government. One of her favorite quote is “What God has for me, it is for me.”
