"The car was shaking, both internally and externally, he popped the cl,utch and gave it the gas, white ,gray and black smoke filled the air behind the Ford as tires screamed against the asphalt. "Black Beauty" jolted forward as the tires caught traction. "She livedup to her name as the "rocket" left the start line.First gear begged for mercy, as he threw her into second, another burst of energy. He glanced to his right, the "Deuce" coupe was losing ground, he slammed her into third gear and pushed the accelerator to the floor. The "Deuce" was up to his front passenger door. He glanced at the speedomoter, 98MPH!!! He was going to win!!!! Then all hell broke loose! The steering wheel began to shake ,violently, he grabbed it with both hands, knuckles white!! She veered to the right, he saw the grill of the "Deuce" as the right side of the car raised up. He looked out his window and saw the asphalt rushing towards him and then BLACK!!!!!!!

About the Book
Clint Brown’s short stories have appeared in Reminisce magazine and two other periodicals published by Northfield Press. This is his first semiautobiographical novel about a man about to retire and looks back at that journey called life. He can’t understand the physical changes he has gone through since his teenage years in the ’50s and ’60s. He wonders what is in store for him next.

1. It is semiautobiographical. 2. It is about a sixty-one-year-old man who is retiring, and he reminisces about his life in the past and up to the present time. 3. I grew up in the 1950s in Newton, Massachusetts. I now live in southwest LA. I am a retired broadcast journalist and teacher. The events in the book are the events I experienced, with some embellishments. There are some erotic moments and some humorous moments as well as some adventures. It goes from the ’50s through the turbulent ’60s, the ’70s, ’80s, and to 2003.
