About the Author

Lori Jiava is a forty-year-old mother of two children. Born and raised in Wappingers Falls, New York, Lori’s life revolves around her family, and she devotes her time to children everywhere within the community. Working as a realtor has allowed Lori the flexibility to be home for her children and to give them the security they need. Although she has a degree in business and labor studies, she prides herself in following her own mother’s footsteps, nurturing. Along with taking care of her family, Lori dedicated herself to the community and has served for over two years as a trustee on the board of education in her school district. This year, she is the president and enjoys every moment of helping children. When asked why she would want to take on such a task, her response is simple: “Every child deserves a community behind them. These children are our future leaders, and it takes an entire community to raise and educate the whole child.” A mother’s job does not just stop with their own. There is always a moment to embrace and always a child to engage. Lori’s mother has left a legacy, one that she hopes to carry on. In her own words, “a mother leaves a footprint upon a soul, one that can never be erased. Our children become what they see and love as much as we teach. Mothers give their children their first breath and air to keep on breathing.”
