I have always believed that poetry among the other forms of writing, cannot be taught; it is a skill similar to writing lyrics that an individual uncovers during times of financial, mental or physical distress to inspire and warn others, who have not yet encountered this difficulty, to make wise decisions to avoid meeting this fate in their lifetime.
By this statement, I’m certain you ponder intensely in your mind, asking yourselves what has he encountered to draw such conclusion? Although still young, I must state that I have encountered more in my years of life what some face in a lifetime. Many days I wrestled with ideas that some may insist that I receive psychiatric help to somehow ease the ride on the mental, physical, and emotional roller coaster.
As an adolescent, I was never comfortable sharing my inner feelings and thoughts with my parents nor siblings; I locked myself away in my room after coming from school and would think to myself would write them down in the form of poetry and it has been my personal psychiatrist ever since.
A poem is an arrangement of words containing meaning and musicality. Most poems take the form of a series of lines separated into groups called stanzas. A poem can be rhyming or non-rhyming, with a regular meter or a free flow of polyrhythm. There is debate over how a poem should be defined, but there is little doubt about its ability to set a mood. To me, a poem is an invitation into one’s heart and inner feelings. A poem not only has a meaning but a way in which it touches all souls who read it. In my opinion, the interpretation of a poem is never correct or wrong because the poet may have a meaning personally, and another individual who reads it may see it as pertaining to their situation in that specific time. However, the meaning poems are therapeutic in its own special way.
“God never sets you up for failure,” just look around and see what he places around you for you to get the point in life where he wants you to be.” This quote I wrote in a very depressive state of mind, when I thought the world was against me. The poems you will encounter in this book is a reflection of how God never fails; he just allowed me to go through my trials to write words that sing melodies into the hearts of its readers. A poem for you, whatever you’re going through or encountering in life, is there to help you through and will sing a melody of the angels in your heart while repairing the wounds. A poem for you waits.
