"MONUTZA" cried out Firefighter Joe! Firefighter Joe with a few other firefighters ran as fast as they could to the Zoo with two of their strongest, straightest ladders. All of the animals in the Zoo had been awakened by the smoke, including Monutza. Firefighter Joe yelled to Monutza, please, only you can help us! Dip your trunk into the watering hole and fill up with as much water as you can hold, then come quickly back to the ravine. Hurry Monutza, many lives are at stake!" Firefighter Joe and the other firefighters lowered their ladders across the divide to make a bridge, a bridge for Monutza to cross!" Monutza returned filled to his ears with water. "Their is no time to explain Monutza, just walk across these ladders to our side!" said Firefighter Joe. At the coaxing of Firefighter Joe and the other firefighters, Monutza carefully walked across the ladders, as they creaked and swayed under his great weight. Once safely across, Firefighter Joe, the firefighters and Monutza headed as fast as they could down the street to the fire!

About the Author
Joseph T. Bonanno is a twenty-one-year veteran firefighter with the New York City Fire Department. He is an academy-trained chef, fitness trainer, and nutritionist and winner of many regional and national cooking contests. He is also author of The Healthy Firehouse Cookbook and The Firehouse Grilling Cookbook and has appeared as a guest on many national television shows and been featured in both fire department and culinary publications. Joe has just completed taping episodes of his own new television series, called Firehouse Kitchen, soon to be aired locally in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut area and then nationally. The set is a reproduction of a New York City firehouse complete with brass fire pole, which both Joe and guests will slide down to start each episode. The show will feature guests from the firefighting community as well as chefs, cookbook authors, restaurateurs, and celebrities. Joe enters the children’s book arena with an endearing story that draws from experiences with firefighters and fitness clients.
