CHAPTER 1 Love is blind For the past few months every night she sneaks out her bedroom window to begin what have now became her daily routine. Monica is a seventeen year old beautiful young lady, with caramel skin, dark brown curly hair and light brown eyes. When she was nine years old, she was sent to a foster home. Never would’ve imagined experiencing life the way she did, at such a young age. Every day she will witness her mother in her bedroom crying but never knew why. She wasn’t to understand why her mother and father were always arguing, and occasionally she will see her father abuse her mother. However, who knew tonight will be the night her life change dramatically and force her to grow up fast. It started with a simple argument that been going on for hours between her parents. Monica, who was in her room down the hall continues to toss back and forth in her Disney Cinderella sheets trying to go to sleep. She put the pillow over her head but still couldn’t sleep with all the commotion. She finally gave up and decided to stay up to listen in on her parents arguing. “…. Maya, where’s my fucking money, bitch?” Was a question Monica heard being asked over and over again by her father Louie. “I don’t know where your money at. I haven’t seen it, that’s your money keep up with it” She heard her mother say. “You stupid bitch don’t fucking lie to me I had five thousand dollars in the stash in the closet. I know I’m not fucking crazy” Louie said tossing everything in the closet out his path. “Louie, I really don’t know please not tonight, I really want to go to bed.” Maya pulls the cover back and hop in the bed ready to go to sleep. Maya getting in the bed angered Louie, he really felt that Maya had stole his money and if she didn’t, she could’ve at least helped him find it. He turns around and notices Maya is lying down with her eyes closed going to sleep not caring that his money was gone. He thought to his self “this bitch really think shit is all good and she can just brush this shit off after she just stole my money”. Louie walks over to the bed and snatched the cover off of Maya. “Yo what the fuck is wrong with you” Maya said pissed sitting up in the bed. “Get the fuck up!” he yells. “You tripping! You know I will never steal from you. You must have misplaced it. We can look for it in the morning, but not right now I’m tired I had a very long day.” Maya then pull the red fleece cover back over her head and turned her body facing the wall paying Louie no mind. “Watch your fucking mouth when you talking to daddy who you talking to like that” Louie commands and kicks the bed. Maya plays sleep even though she knew there will be consequences for not listening to him. Maya rebelling frustrated Louie, he felt disrespected to the max. In his mind “first the bitch stole from me now she doesn’t want to listen, that he couldn’t tolerate. Not under his roof where he pay all the bills”. Louie walks over to Maya and pulls her by her jet black long wavy hair out of the bed. Her slender body quickly fell to the floor. Louie then got on top of her and punch her multiple times in the face. Maya tried her best to fight back but her body was no match aganist a 6 ‘2 and 265 pound man. Monica in the bedroom hears cries for help. She get out her bed as quick as possible and run outside the apartment to the next door neighbor in her pink bunny pajamas and fuzzy yellow socks. Monica bangs on the door yelling for Ms. Rena help. ”Please, my mother” she beg. She continues to bang and scream scared for her mother’s life until she opened the door. Ms. Rena was an elderly white lady who lived in the building for almost30 years. When she finally opens the door Monica fall into her arms with tears filling her wide eyes. “What’s the matter dear?” Ms. Rena asked confused.” You should be in the bed little one it’s almost midnight, young lady” Monica still holding Ms.Rena with tears drowning her face said “my mommy and daddy are fighting again… I’m scared”. Living in the building for a very long time, she knew the Wilkinson family history. Since they moved in the building about 8 years ago, Louie was always abusing Maya. Louie and Maya were once a happy family until Louie lost his job and got heavy into the streets. There was a time when Louie blacken Maya eye and she promised Ms.Rena to leave him for good. She encouraged Maya to go to a shelter for the proper help. Maya took Ms. Rena advice hoping to get housing assistance because at the time she was pregnant with Monica. After a while she became hopeless that they will help her and moved back in with Louie. Even though Louie was abusive to her, she was in love and thought at times Louie could be the sweetest. Louie became a big time drug dealer who got respect from everybody since he started working with Big Rob. Big Rob and Louie were like brothers but also double trouble. They both had the streets on lock and each solider was required to bring them at least thousand dollars every two weeks. Soon the FEDS caught up Big Rob and he was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Since then Louie became the head boss making sure Big Rob master plan lived on and took care Big Rob while he was in prison so he don’t need for nothing. Ms. Rena knew she didn’t want to get involved with their situation but by the look in Monica eyes she wanted to help. She brought Monica inside her home wrapping her into a blanket insisting that she lay down and go to sleep. She told Monica everything will be okay andcalled the police. Back at the apartment Maya had gotten enough strength to kick Louie in his balls. Louie leans over cursing up a storm holding his man hood. “Ah, shit you stupid bitch ahhhh” Louie screams.
