Lilly’s Special Blue Eyes

Once upon a time, there was a lovely young girl named Lilly. Lilly was not only beautiful, she was also very sweet. This made all the people in the land love her very much. One day Queen Sparkle, ruler of the fairies, came to visit, “I have heard good things about you, my dear.” The Queen told Lilly, “ Since you are sweet as well as beautiful, I have decided to give you a magic gift.” “Oh, what is it” Cried Lilly. “I have decided to make your beautiful eyes special.” Declared Queen Sparkle. “ Oh Thank You!” Said Lilly. The fairy queen waved her magic wand and said these magic words: “Magic Wand, I ask of you, send your magic straight and true. Go to Lilly’s eyes of blue, and make them special when you do.” As soon as the magic words were spoken, sparks flew from the Queen’s wand into Lilly’s eyes. “Now blink three times.” Queen Sparkle told her, “ And you will have “ special “ eyes.” Lilli did what the fairy told her but she couldn’t tell that her eyes were any different. “I don’t think your magic has worked.” Lilly told her friend. “ My eyes don’t feel special. They feel same as they always have.” “Oh, it worked.” Promised the fairy.” You will see that your eyes are special just when you need them to be. But Beware, the Queen warned her little friend.” If the witch finds out that your eyes are special, she will try to take away your gift. She is jealous and greedy and wants all the magic to herself.” The Queen made Lilli promise to hide the magic of her eyes when the witch was near. Then she hugged the girl and kissed her cheek. “I must go my dear “said the Queen, and she headed off to her forest palace, calling as she flew. “ Good-bye my dear, be safe. I love you.” Lilly was happy that Queen Sparkle had come to see her, even though she still wasn’t sure the fairy’s magic had worked, “Special eyes or not, “ thought Lilly. “ I sure enjoyed our visit.” Later that day, Lilly was helping her Gramma fix dinner. She noticed that her Gramma seemed to be looking for something. “Can I help?” She asked. “I don’t know Gramma said frowning. “I’ve lost my glasses.” “I’ll help you look.” Offered Lilly. She blinked her eyes and suddenly she could see Gramma’s missing glasses. “Here they are!” called Lilly. “Oh thank you!” laughed Gramma “However did you find them?” “I just looked, and there they were.” Lilly smiled happily, because she knew the fairy’s magic had worked. Her eyes were special! Lilly used her special magic eyes many times after that. They always helped her see lost things when nobody else could find them. She loved the magic gift her fairy friend had given her! One day Lilly was playing in her gramma’s garden. She was using her special eyes so she wouldn’t step on her tiny insect friends. She was so busy watching out for them, that she didn’t notice that the witch had snuck into the garden and hidden behind a big tree. She had heard about the girl and her magic eyes and wanted to see for herself. When she saw the magic in Lilly’s blue eyes, the greedy witch grew angry. She wanted all the magic for herself! The witch knew she couldn’t really take Lilly’s gift, but she know how to cause the lovely young girl big problems.
