Another week end loomed like a mountain as Gail sat in the sun with her telephone nearby. She put there in case one of the children called to invite her over. In all probability the telephone would not ring but kept it close just in case. Since she had been widowed she missed the company of someone to talk to. She had her friends who she could chat to on the week day mornings and then she did not feel lonely. It was the weekends that somehow stretched ahead with no promise of anything special that got her down. She walked around the garden with the telephone in her hand not wanting to miss a call if it came and then went back to her chair in the sun. She had telephoned Sarah the night before and knew she would be busy with her children. Jake was away for the weekend with his family and Gavin was busy with sport. When the afternoon light faded and the sun lost its warmth she went inside. Now she could put the television on and this would keep her entertained until she went to bed. It is not that she expected the children to call each day or evening but once a week or even once every two weeks would be nice. When the telephone rand Gail quickly answered before it could stop. ‘Good evening madam I wonder if you could give me a few moments of your time to complete a survey? It will not take long.’ Gail smiled even though she was disappointed . ‘Of course, what would you like to know?’ It was on such a sunny day while Gail sat on the chair near the window that the idea began to take form. At first she ignored it but it kept coming back until she fetched a pen and a piece of paper to write it down. It was a preposterous idea and she knew it but it was worth a try. After all what could she loose? Besides she had an unused passport in the safe just waiting for a chance to have it stamped. Gail did not act immediately and put a lot of thought into how she would go about what she planned to do. Where would she like to go? How could she introduce herself? All these decisions had to be carefully planned if it was to be of benefit to herself or not. What was it that she actually wanted to do? Her notes grew longer over the next few days and when the next weekend approached she was ready to launch herself. She knew she was capable and had a lot of experience and her age which was long over the sell by date was a bonus not a liability. She would keep her advertisement plain and to the point and see if anyone was interested to use her services. Although her knowledge of the internet was limited she managed to find out what she needed and how she had to go about it.
