In the Midst of Things

The Clone looked genuinely surprised, then it shook its head and chuckled. It held a larger gun in its hands, but he held it like a toy, deftly, easily. Not as dumb as he looks? I thought to myself, and turned back to the Clones in front of me. Being careful, huh, sis? Good. Craiven thought to me. I smiled without looking back at him. Another Clone leaped down from above down at me. I leaped aside, and plunged down seconds later to another position closer to Craiven and Gordon. Jackie was half crying, hiding behind me. Good. Another sharp sound made me turn faster. It looked like Gordon saw something else dashing before him and cried out again. The Clone was lunging for my throat, trying to tear it apart. It scratched me a little. No blood though. But I had forgotten about what Jackie was doing now. I was too focused on myself. Ignoring the claws from the Clones in front of her, Jackie took out the gun I had given her, and tried to fight. I turned away. Good enough. Blur of motion. Everything. Again. A bullet flew towards me. I raised my sword to block it, but it still hit my hand. I flinched away, throwing the sword on the floor. Bleeding. Jeez, show some respect for the elderly. I still want five fingers… I mean, five on both hands. Bullets flying. Swords dashing. Voices screaming. Gordon was gasping and panting, stunned. He raised something in his hands, I couldn’t see it clearly, but I could see him shaking. “Are you hurt?” I blurted out, not caring who would answer me at this point. “Fine! Are you?!” Jackie screamed at me. I went back to defend her, and saw that she had been clawed by something. “You okay?” I asked again, looking at the bloody cut on her left hand. “Fine—Isabelle look out!” Something came slashing at me. I ducked. Swords, and more swords. “You’re doing great, Jackie. Keep it up,” I said, trying to help in some way. I didn’t look back at Jackie but I could see her smiling from the corner of my eye. The Clone’s eyes fiercely fixed on me, I flinched. I was angry now.
