Big Book was the first to see the goat coming towards them. “What is the?” shouted Big Book, his voice getting louder as the goat came to investigate the bag. “Oh no!” cried Boko. “She thinks we are some kind of food! I remember the Farm Animals book in the library telling me that goats eat everything” Sylvie tried to hide behind Big Book but couldn’t quite make it before the goat became more and more interested and finally picked up the bag, ran away with it and hid behind an old apple tree. “Help! Help!” yelled Boko, but no one could hear him as the ducks and chickens were making such a lot of noise. The goat tossed the bag around for a bit, shaking the books sideways and upside down; they were terrified and kept shouting for someone to help them. When the goat had finished playing with the bag, having decided she couldn’t eat it she tossed it up in the air with her horns, and thinking this was quite a good game, she continued to play until finally the poor red bag landed in the duck pond! The books were quiet for a minute, wondering what had happened to them. “Are you all right?” Boko asked Big Book and Sylvie quietly. Sylvie was trembling and could hardly move as they were all squashed together. “Just a bit bruised”, Big Book replied. “How about you Sylvie?” “Well, I don’t think I like goats very much,” said Sylvie. “But at least she didn’t eat us”.

About the Book
Boko is a book. He no longer lives in the children’s section of the library but has been returned to his original owner, Emily, who, with her two grandchildren Ella and Peter and their friend Stephen, has discovered that Boko can talk, and he tells them of his adventures. Emily has made a big red tote with a clear window so that Boko and his two book friends Sylvie and Big Book can go with them to visit a friend of Emily’s who has a farm and where they intend to have a picnic. Previously, the books have always been in backpacks or suitcases and have seen very little, but this time they are excited as they can see where they are going and have a real adventure when a goat runs off with the bag while Gran and the children are enjoying their lunch! They have fun visiting all the animals, and Sylvie names a calf.
