The Magic Paint Brush

Penny asks, "What kind of brush is this?" The artist replies, "This Penny is a magic paint brush." Penny eyes open wide and she says with astonishment, "A magic paint brush!" The artist replies with enthusiasm, "Yes!. It was given to me when I was your age. The painter who gave it to me said if you are a true artist and you believe hard enough, it will paint without paint." Penny asks, "Does it work?" "No.", the artist sighs, “I never got it to work." Penny looks at it with amazement and says. "Wow. How wonderful. I think it's a beautiful brush." The artist picks the brush up from the box and hands it to Penny. Penny holds it up to her face real close and looks it over. The artist says, "Now concentrate Penny. Let’s see if you can get the magic brush to work." Penny lifts the brush high up in the air. She closes her eyes and concentrates. After a brief moment she hears the artist yell out, "It's working!" Penny opens her eyes and watches the brush transform in her hand. The crack in the brush handle seals itself. The wood becomes darker and the finish returns. The bristles begin to restore themselves to new. The patina from the neck begins to fade away and the brilliance of the silver returns. "I can not believe my eyes!", the artist says cheerfully, "It really works! All this time and it really works." He looks at Penny and says, "Do you know what this means? You are a true artist." Penny looks back at him with adoring eyes and asks, "Do you really think I'm a true artist?” The artist replies, "Yes." He pauses and looks up with his hand on his chin. Then he looks at Penny and spouts off, "Of course! You are a excellent painter. People love your paintings. They hang them up for everyone else to see. On top of all that your painting speaks directly to the people who own them."
