About the Book

Catholics have a special reverence for those canonized as saints by the pope. We believe they were holy people, and on their death they were with God. Catholics pray to saints for their intercession with God to grant special requests. The four saints whose lives are briefly described in this book share a very unique relationship. They are the only saints who lived and died as American or United States citizens.

About the Author

The five American citizen saints’ book is the author’s special gift for our families and friends this Christmas season of 2012. It is not often that a retired school superintendent, college professor, and former small-town mayor and his daughter who is an attorney, social worker, wife, and mother are able to spend the time together to complete such a task. The collaborative effort is made more difficult when the father lives in Palm Coast, Florida, and the daughter lives in Towson, Maryland. We hope you enjoy reading this book. This is the first time to our knowledge that the five American citizen saints’ lives are described in one volume. Each saint offers special type of holiness. Each saint has offered a unique contribution to the American Catholic school system. Each saint has provided care for our orphans and our sick. Each saint has established or expanded our religious congregations to serve the American Catholic population. We pray to saints for their intercession with God to help us in the difficult times in our lives. The authors offer these five saints for your consideration when seeking such assistance.
