About the Author

Currently I am enrolled in an online Master of Education Program through Jones International University, with Postsecondary Teaching and Administration as my focus. So my current writing involves research reports and strategic planning papers. I do have the beginnings of two novels done with a vision of finishing them soon. My writing history also encompasses lyrics and poetry, having been first published in the mid 1970s. I graduated from the University of Washington when I was 49 years old, after already having raised two children as a single(divorced)parent. My Bachelor of Arts Degree is a multiple disciplinary degree in Music Therapy. I am also an accomplished musician/composer and I dabble in the visual arts, mainly in two-dimentional water colors of birds, animals and nature. I did a commissioned piece for a Norwegian professor from Yale that he raved about. He was "home sick" and wanted a painting of Norway and its indigenous wild life to help keep his heart "at home." I started performing music professionally at age 16, having studied the piano for 8 years and vocals for two years. Singing has been important in my life since I was of pre-school age, as has the piano. My first recording experience was at age 4. I also discovered at an early age that creative writing came quite easily to me. My children's book Jamie the Giraffe Learns to Dance was inspired by my two year old granddaughter Shanea, that had a toy giraffe that she loved. After I wrote the first draft of the story, I would read it and Shanea would act out the story with her toy giraffe. She asked me to read it over and over, so I realized I must have stumbled into a world that young ones can relate to. My current work is targeting an adult audience. I hope it is as well received as Jamie the Giraffe Learns to Dance. I have found my home at the typewriter with just myself and my mind. All of my other God given creative talents spill onto the pages as I write. My material is a life full of enriching experiences.
