About the Book

Then early in the history of the Great Salt Lake valley, Issac Smith Potter and his family entered in a covered wagon and built a home in Springville. At first they built one home, and then they built one for Issac, better known as Ike. Several things were very important to Ike. Family, friends, and to leave a mark in life. A man’s hands can build, and he wanted to leave a mark with his hands. Just as important to him were friends. He knew that good friends last forever, and he wanted nothing more than that. When his friends turned on him, that was one of the most hurtful things of his life. The Indian friends he had never turned their backs on him, and he came to realize who his true friends were.

About the Author

Then came that fateful day when all the trumped-up charges accumulated and ten grim men showed up to show Ike who was boss. They kicked in the door of the makeshift jail and marched Ike, Charles Wilson, and John Walker down the streets of Coalville, Utah. These three men met their fate that day without due process of law, a guarantee that all Americans have. The author, Jerel Potter, chose the pen name of Bill Kid. Jerel has a master’s degree in mathematics education and teaches at Spectrum Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jerel is the great-great-grandson of Isaac Smith Potter.
