moved to New Orleans, Louisiana three years ago from Texas. I got tired of living there, but don’t get it wrong, I love Texas. My best friend Sephra was getting a promotion at her job that required her to move. Since I wanted a change of scenery and I didn’t want to be without my best friend, I decided to pack up and go with her. Ramón decided to stay. We have lived together ever since. I don’t have to worry about hiding anything from her, because she already knows about me. I can’t really say she is just my best friend because she’s like a sister also. It was hard growing up in a family where there are three boys and you’re the only girl. Sephra on the other hand is an only child. But my brothers are cool. They treat her like a sister too. Sephra is the Executive Vice President of Marketing Research for a big company. She loves her work and she’s extremely talented. We barely get to see each other because she spends long hours at the office and I’m usually working a case. When we do get the chance to see each other, we make sure to spend time together. We have recently been talking about our upcoming vacation. We have all agreed on Jamaica this year. Our vacation starts tomorrow, so we’re double checking to make sure that everything is squared away before we leave. “I am so excited about this vacation” Sephra squeals. “I have been waiting for this all year. I know the first thing I want to do when we get on land is shopping. Do you know what floor we will be on? I hope we have a great view of the Caribbean Sea” she rambles. “We will. I made sure of that when I made the reservations. We have the fourth floor to ourselves. I also can’t wait to see Linda and Shelly. It’s been way too long. Too bad we can’t do a vacation twice a year” I said. “You did make sure to get all of your work taken care of for the two weeks that we will be gone, right” I asked? “Girl I had that taken care of about six months ago. Unless it’s a dire emergency, there is nothing that will keep me from this much needed vacation. So what are we going to do tonight” she asks? “I don’t know what you’re going to do, but I need to finish packing. Most of it is already done. I just have a few things left to throw in my bag and I’m going to get some rest. I know once I get on the ship, the last thing I want to be is tired. That kind of defeats the purpose.” There is a knock at the door. Sephra opens the door and it’s Ramón. Since he’s going on the trip with us, he came down early so we could all leave at the same time. The next morning we take a cab to the Port of New Orleans and wait for Linda and Shelly. Before we board the ship, I call them. Shelly says that they are almost there and not to get on without them. When they finally arrive we board the ship and get situated. We all have separate rooms and when I go into mine, it is absolutely breath taking. I walk in and it looks like a mini apartment. The floor and walls were a rich mahogany wood color. The dining area is directly in front of me. To my right is the living room. There is a black leather sofa with a flat screen TV on the wall and a window overlooking the water. On my left is the bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom has a queen size bed. It has a door that leads out to the balcony. The bathroom has a tiled floor, the biggest shower space I’ve ever seen and a TV and phone. I put all of my things up and call the girls and Ramón. They say that they are doing the same. I tell them that we should meet at the bar in an hour. That should give us enough time to get everything put away and get freshened up. An hour later, I go down to the bar and everyone is there. I go to the table and take a seat. They know me so well that they’ve already ordered for me. “So, what’s on the agenda” Shelly asked?
