Helgi the Grey and Baldur had reached the Kingdom of Jotheim, having had raced against time speeding at a full pace. They requested an audience with King Smakongur after many insistences and finally had been accepted into the audience chamber. Before them sat King Smakongur at a table lined up with various fruits and drink. The guests went through the proper greetings out of courtesy for the king. Baldur stared at the king, examined his portly stature and noticed his regal attire. “Odd that he seems so oblivious to the events in his realm” thought Baldur. Baldur and Helgi the Grey was standing in the middle of the room, when the king said coldly “I know why you are here. I expect that you must be tired from your trek, sit and dine with me while we talk. But you must know that I am not inclined towards your trip. I know who you are, pointing towards Helgi, but this Baldur I know not.” Helgi the Grey and Baldur bowed and accepted a seat at the table and began to sample the food before them. Baldur introduced himself as the Commander of the Guards for the Realm of men. “Sire, about Ft. Windswept, I…” spoke Baldur which was silenced with a wave of the hand by King Smakongur. “What about the fort? Must we accept your meddling with the local populace in the area? We have heard of their terrorizing the local gnomes” stated the king as he stared down towards the plate before him. Baldur was staring in disbelief at the king with juices and spittle running down the kings’ chin. Helgi the Grey interrupted the king with “Dost thou not know of the coming war? At this moment, gnomes in your kingdom are at a greater danger then from our soldiers” The king stared towards Helgi the Grey and with a pointing finger he stated firmly “Aye, I know of you and your actions…a trouble maker at best! Of what business do you have concerning this kingdom? For too long have the race of Men has instigated problems. Your foolish war was started by you; it has nothing to do with gnomes. You are welcome as guests, rest up, and be gone with you. We will not participate in your foolish endeavors”. Baldur replied “But what is to come of the fort? We have dispatched reinforcements…will you hinder their travels?” King Smakongur pondered for a moment then said “Nay, I will not hinder their travels as long as they stray not from the roadways to the fort. Should they deviate from the lanes, I will have my men arrest them and then the fort will be disbanded. Do I make it clear to you?” Helgi silently shook his head towards Baldur as if to say “Don’t argue with the king, we have received his intentions”. “Surely you understand that your kingdom is in peril, but, I will accept your position and we will abide as you wish” replied Baldur sourly. “Excellent…Is there anything else that you need until you depart” asked king Smakongur? Helgi bowed towards the king and asked “I beseech you for assistance; perchance if I can borrow a flugapet. Baldur needs to get to castle Vokva in the Dwarven realm…I can pay for the ride of course”? “Yes, yes if only to be rid of you” king Smakongur replied bluntly. “I expect you to be leaving before sunset. And you, Helgi, will you be leaving as well?” “Aye sire, I am going to Woodbranch as I have a meeting to attend” replied Helgi the Grey.

About the Book
The elves, dwarves, and gnomes had been hounded by the humanoids in the continent after the Rendering Wars had ended. No longer threatened by the evil forces from the Northern Realms, the humans turned their sights upon the little people. This is the tale of the exodus from the land of the humans to unchartered lands across the seas. With the help from a wizard, the little people of the continent face dangers, not only from the myriad of demons, orcs, and magical beasts, but they face perils from the humans as well. Now the little people must flee to rebuild their own empires without interference from humans.
About the Author
At the age of 3 my family moved to Tripoli Libya North Africa, and left the country when Col. Khadafy overthrew the King. When I was 15, Khadafy expelled all foreigners from the country, and we moved to Spain. I joined the US Air Force and served in Vietnam. I attended the University Of West Florida majoring in Accounting and Finance. I returned to Iceland and took up dual citizenship, US and Icelandic. My son, Davið Leó and my daughter, Róberta M., both of whom were born in Iceland and they still reside in Iceland. I was the father of Icelandic Taekwondo, founder of the Icelandic Taekwondo federation. I attended the World Games in 1992 and represented Iceland. I hold a 4th degree black belt in Kukkiwon, and masters certificate from the US counterpoint, ATF (American Taekwondo Federation). I attended Tölvuháskóli Islands (University of Iceland) for computer science. I now reside in Cantoment Florida in the US with numerous trips between Iceland and the US.
