Let me get this straight in your mind, those opinions does not have to become your reality. Trust me, is extremely difficult to get out of your “comfort zone” when all you do is listening to all the noises of negativity. It took me years to understand that there’s a sparkle in each one of us that make us different and make us the wonderful person we are. We all have dreams, aspirations and a whole world of opportunities lying before us. It is up to us to start thinking out of the box and let that inner creative girl work her way out. Since a little girl my passion was to become an artist, the small town plaza in Camuy, Puerto Rico became the stage where my imagination took its course. I visualized myself connecting with my audience, singing to thousands of people and being a famous celebrity. But wait a minute! Me! A celebrity! Huh? What kind of future can a poor girl with a difficult childhood profile can have! A girl that became an orphan at the age of ten! Seriously, that could be the thoughts of any person in my shoes. Thank God my gradma make her appearance and adopt me, even though she has a totally different idea for my professional career, attending church with her was a turning point to discover my inner creative girl. But before that U-turn to become a (ICG) took place, my biggest dilemma was being asked in High School what were my plans for my road trip to college. Feelings of insecurity and nervousness made my stomach twirl like an orchestra. What if I say that all I want to be was a singer or an actress or a professional in the art field? Well, that’s not exactly what my gradma want me to be or that’s not exactly what others think as a real career. But for me the only thing I want it to do was developed my creative skills in the area I was passionate about, the arts.
Fortunately, the church became the platform to acquire successful Leadership skills, polish those hidden talents and developed others that I didn’t even know existed! Or I was even capable of doing! Don’t get me wrong, it took one step at a time and a bunch of mistakes along the way to find ways to connect my inner creative girl with a career path that could pay my bills! While working as a youth Director, an awoken desire to learn more, embarked me in a college adventure that taught me important lessons that definitely will share with you. It took some experimentation and some risk to get out of my comfort zone and try something new, believe me I felt uncomfortable, I mean who wouldn’t? George E. Woodberry
Don’t be afraid to fail. Don’t waste energy trying to cover up failure, learn from your failures and go on to the next challenge. It’s ok to fail. If you’re not failing, you’re not growing. - H. Stanley Judd-
