He headed for the restaurant, when he reached Busch Blvd. Once again, (he knew, he would never be able to make it across), he wanted to start barking. In hopes, that once again, Rudy would hear him, but he was feeling much too weak; he stepped up to the curb and looked up the Highway and then down, to his surprise, there was no traffic, in either direction, he could hardly believe his luck. Ty started across, a car swerved to avoid hitting him, the drivers in the next two lanes; slammed on brakes and skidded to a stop just in time, as Ty walked by slowly in front of them. The pick-up truck in the forth lane sped past, missing him by an inch. Ty never saw, or heard, any of this, he made his way to the center Island, his legs were a little wobbly, he checked out the other half of the Highway, it was exactly the same, no traffic, he proceeded across, and all four lanes came to a halt; as he made his way across. He never saw the bright headlights of the cars, less than two feet from him. Rudy came out of the side door of The Two Cronies Restaurant; he put his last paycheck in his back pocket, as he told Tim he’d see him around sometime.
