“In Waves in Waves in Waves in Waves. Do I end this all for the world to see? In waves, in waves. Do I take everybody else down? Everybody else down with me.” Eyes flutter open and a blanket is tossed to the side as Keirah reaches to the stand by her bed and grabs the boost phone she uses for an alarm. When she looks at the phone it’s Six thirty AM. She rubs her face and groggily sits up out of her down mattress pad substitute for a bed grumbling. Here goes another day. Yippee. Scanning around the white walled room with a dresser on the wall furthest her cluttered with random gadgets. Her door opens and a light is flicked on as familiar as ever. “Keirah sweetie it’s time to get up. The shop opens in thirty minutes and last time I checked you’re it sole owner now” comes the lustrous Romanian voice of her mother. “Ok mom” she replies as she jumps out of bed grabs her jumpsuit and plaid shirt from its crumpled heap in the corner. Damn I hate this. So tired she thinks as she quickly slips the uniform on that she has worn for the last four years. Looking at the phone she runs out of her room and into the small kitchen where her mother is waiting. “Hey sweetie remember you need to close up earlier than usual tonight. Tonight’s the memorial for your father. Four years to the day. Time goes by so fast.” Her mother says a hysterical edge to her voice. “Ok” Why do we do this every year? It just reminds us that life sucks. Her mother hands her an apple and she walks out the door after kissing her on the cheek. Once she’s out the door she takes in a deep breath of the warm spring air gets on her Motor cycle and heads to the shop five miles away. God this town definitely has grown in the last four years. Dad if only you could see the shop now. I hope I’ve done you proud. Then she pulls up outside the garage and unlocks the front entrance disabling the security alarm as the guys start showing up for work. She walks into the office and logs on to the company website. “You have three new messages an automated female voice says. A few moments later the boys walk in as she’s printing off the jobs. “Hey Keirah” one of the guys says as he walks in to make a pot of coffee. After a few seconds she replies “hey guys we got five jobs starting in about 20 minutes. So get your coffee and get ready.” “So what is it today and who gets what.” She points to a Russian looking man about 6.1 with shaggy raven black hair and a full beard. “Brahm you get the 7:15 a 1988 Jaguar. “ Hell yeah” he replies in his deep baritone voice as he collects the information for the Jag. She then turns and points to a small statured man with sandy blond shoulder length hair and ocean blue eyes. “Kaleb you get the next one. A new Raven XL.” She then looks at the two remaining men. “James and Eric you’ve been here since dad opened up shop you get the top picks. The Founders are coming in today with their cars and I was hoping you could do the honors of taking care of them.” “Yes ma’am” The red headed brothers in there early forty’s reply. Once the guys all migrate towards their work spaces and start opening the bay doors Keirah sits back down in the office chair and starts the paperwork for the only new customer so far this month.
