Land of the Misty Dawn

The following samples are taken from different chapters of the story: “The hour awaits, But don’t be late… The answer will lie… Within the Hazy Blue Eye.” Came the misty voice in the stillness of their dreams. “Aahhh!” They both screamed as they saw those piercing eyes peering at them through the darkness of the window. With their questions still unanswered, they pretended to forget about their dream and move on to the topic of the week. “Mom,” said Iris, “in three days time, it will be Friday the 13th of October …” “Our 13th Birthday!” interjected Odin. Mom and Dad just looked at each other and smiled. Iris and Odin were so excited to get their birthday wish that they just could not wait, but their dream still perplexed them. Why could their parents never answer their questions, and why did they always feel as if they came from somewhere else??? Iris and Odin sat on their beds in the silence of the dark just staring at each other although they could not see each other. Terror raged in their hearts for they could not comprehend why they were having the same horrifying dream night after night. - Who was the woman and what did her words mean and why were they chosen to experience this? – The remainder of this night remained sleepless and wondrous for these birthday twins. When the dawn awoke the rest of the slumbering world, Iris and Odin guardedly made their way into the morning with cheerful smiles to light the darkest night. Fear chilled their spines and seized their bodies. The enchanting voice echoed. Were they dreaming? Was it still their birthday or did it not as yet pass? What was happening? They screamed a bone-chilling scream, but no-one seemed to hear them; everything and everyone seemed so hazy now, almost like a blur. They could not move a single muscle in their bodies as the dark figure of the woman slowly glided toward them. It was as if time had suddenly stood still. As they opened their eyes, all they could see was a misty dawn, but it was beautiful. They were both lying under the pale blue morning sky strewn with light pink and orange hues and dusted with the hazy glow of the yellow sun. The ground was littered with soft yellow and brown leaves and there were trees for miles and miles around, as far as the eye could see.
