SAY GOODBYE TO HOLLYWOOD

Ant's mind wouldn't be made up until a few days before Millie's flight was scheduled. It happened while Chris, Kenny, Dave and him were watching their favorite Monday night wrestling program Monday Night Nitro! His favorite wrestler the legendary Hulk Hogan had become the new heavyweight champion in the world. Hogan had recently become a villain on the program and helped create a new crew on the wrestling program called The N.W.O. New World Order. Hogan also acquired the name Hollywood Hogan transforming his image and persona along with the entire wrestling world abroad. Watching Hogan's transformation inspired Ant to make his own transformation in his life. This nigga's the truth… I need to do some shit like this. He thought to himself. Hollywood?? Okay I got you Hollywood! Ant realized that he didn't want to go to California anymore, even though it was a chance to live out his dreams. A chance to experience the west coast life home of his favorite rapper Tupac Shakur, visit the real Hollywood, maybe even land a movie, T.V. or commercial role. The thought of it all intrigued him but his insecurities would never allow him to leave New York let alone Spanish Harlem. He loved 109th and established a reputation since moving there. Amazingly he believed that he was the future of Dewitt Clinton Houses. With Maya's words echoing in his mind and those inner fears stabbing at his conscience he couldn’t fathom leaving with his sister Millie, but he wasn’t saying good bye to Hollywood just yet! Ant convinced himself that 109th needed him. That Maya along with the rest of Clinton loved him and would suffer without him. Either or he needed Hollywood… no he wanted Hollywood! So just like Hulk Hogan he decided to become Hollywood and bring Hollywood to Clinton. It gave birth to a whole new persona and ego in him that immediately affected the rest of his 109th squad called Hakala. Hakala was a name that he concocted in school. The name somehow stuck and it formed an alliance between his school mates and him until it eventually blossomed on 109th. Until then Hakala were just a bunch of kids who tagged along with the rest of the teens in Clinton. They rode bikes, roller bladed, played tag, man hunt, cops n robbers...fun activities for normal kids. However there was a change conjuring inside them all, a reflection of the change taking place all around their environment. Ant had graduated from junior High School, gangs were spilling into New York, Hip Hop was under a West Coast and East Coast war and kids were rapidly growing into young adults way too fast! The days of innocent fun for these teenagers were coming to an end. Those days of playing tag and building club houses were becoming a thing of the past. It was now all about the gratification of the young male's testosterone; sex! Sex! SEX! In becoming Hollywood his once peaceful Hakala squad was now imitating the acts of the N.W.O. as seen on T.V. and he loved it! They brawled with each other in school then began warring with kids on 109th as well. They spray painted Hakala everywhere, chased and jumped kids up and down East Harlem and even as far down to 86th street! They saw it as harmless fun but day in and day out, this renewed Hakala squad turned Clinton Houses into a mild war zone! For Ant it was reminiscent of the Clinton Houses from the 80's and 90's when Clinton was the stomping ground for groups like the Latin Kings, Netas and even the Zulu Nation. He grew up idolizing these groups in awe as they came and went one by one. Their images destroyed by their internal conflicts mostly due to drug use and the negative media exposure targeting them. Since then no group dominated the grounds of Clinton, but that was getting ready to change. New groups like the infamous F.E.B /Fuck Everybody crew from Madison Avenue joined in the war games being played on 109th. Not only did they help Ant and the others run down their opposition but they went as far as hanging them by their underwear from the 8 to 10 foot black gates surrounding the parks, super wedgies! Other groups included the Bloods, Crips, Lehman Clan and Jeff Mob aka Rat Pack.
