When we left the last tub all the oil was gone, but our feathers were still sticky and we couldnt fly. Our feathers have lots of smaller feathers on them and they were all tangled up. I could almost hear Mom saying *Oh Walter!, you shouldn*t let your feathers get so messy*. Then one day we were allowed to go outside and we felt we could preen our feathers the way Mom had shown us. We combed through with our beaks to get the tangles out and although our feathers were damaged they started to grow back all clean and new. We stayed at the hospital for 3 weeks and one day the Doctor felt we were well enough to go home. I was so happy I honked my happy song, over and over again.

About the Book
This is a story of a wayward Canada goose called Walter, who is full of questions and is always in trouble. It starts with him as a newborn chick and follows him through his first year.
About the Author
1. I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren who love to read. I worked with children and have a good idea what most children like. 2.I wanted to write a story that was factually correct, and not all infancy written. I showed it to my grandchildren and they read my book and enjoyed it. 3. I currently live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I am married with 2 children and 3 grandchildren. I am an RN by trade, working obstetrics when I retired. This is my first book, and I am trying to introduce children to Canadian wildlife. I was born in England, and relocated to Canada in 1972, and lived more than 30 years in the Canadian Maritimes. As well as a story book, this would work well in a school library setting.
