MY TESTIMONIES In November 2010, I went to the dentist for check up, cleaning and teeth-tacking. The dentist noticed that two of my teeth are infected; she advised me to take them out. I agreed for them to be taken out and this was the beginning of the story. After she took them out I started having problems with my gum which became sour and painful. I started using different medications both conventional and homeopathic. After a while the whole mouth became swollen; so, I went back to the dentist. She gave me Antibiotics and handed a letter to me to go to the hospital but I underestimate the cause and ignorantly put the letter aside and continued with my pain killer and traditional medicines. However, as the pain and swelling got worse and unbearable, I went to the A & E in Queens Hospital in Romford but they told me to go to the Dental Special Hospital in Royal London hospital. I went and when I saw the doctor, he checked my teeth and said he will refer me to the main hospital; so he referred me to the main hospital (Royal London Hospital) that same night. There, I was admitted immediately and for two weeks so that they can carry out some tests. The next day they called a Surgeon from another hospital (St. Bartholomew’s Hospital), who took the biopsy of the swelling gum to check it. The three pictures below show the swollen gums within my jaw areas and how the bone cancer was spreading quickly around my jaw. After taking the samples, I was discharged and the Surgeon asked me to come and see him at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital so that he can tell me the result of the biopsy. He asked me to come with my wife or any member of my family; so I went with my wife. When we saw him he told us that I have a RARE CANCER OF THE JAW BONE (Oestasarcoma), “A rare bone cancer of the jaw’’. I felt dreaming alive unbelieving that I have CANCER because I do not smoke; I do not drink alcohol and am a God fearing man. I doubted whether the result had been mistaken. Perplexed but the result was confirmed. My wife encouraged me in the Lord and also the Surgeon because he is a born again Christian. In desperation, I became terrified. I wept bitterly in fear of missing my wife as the verdict of cancer sounded deadly. With echoes of death, I took refuge in the Lord. I believe that with God my recovery is possible. I took my faith and I asked the surgeon what’s next? He said, I have to go to University College Hospital London (UCHL) for Chemotherapy treatment because they do not have the facilities to give that kind of treatment at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital. Subsequently, he transferred me to the UCHL for treatment and advised me to come back to him for post-treatment checks. They booked an appointment for me to see the Oncologist who will explain what Chemotherapy is all about and how to go about it, how long am going to take the treatment and what might happen to me during and after the treatment. On my appointment day: 08-02-2011, I met the Oncology nurse: Anne McTiernan by name. She was so humble and human to me; she took time to explain everything about chemotherapy and the side effects. Moreover, she said that am going to lose all my hairs both in my body and on my head. She told me that I will be admitted (as an outpatient) during the treatments and also that I will be feeling tired all the time; that I cannot do a stressful work and that I will be monitored every minute. So, I know through the explanation that I need to be living close to the hospital. Consequently, I rented an accommodation close to the hospital and started the Chemotherapy treatment on 16-02-2011, with- 1.DOXORUBICIN, 2.CISPLATIN, 3.METHOTREXATE. As was told, sooner I started the treatments I lost all the hairs and also have another look because the Chemotherapy was a killer itself. It killed all the cells in my body and my immune systems were very low. The farther away I felt of the earth the nearer I drew nearer to the Lord for courage. At this moment the earth diminishes as my spirit elopes out. My wife called me her usual name for me and I could scarcely look up to her.
