The Wounded Flower

Rose in Bloom I know a girl who lives inside A friend I've come to know She bore the pain and felt the shame Of evil long ago This little Rose bud soft and sweet Was bruised and badly used I won't detail outrageous truth The same has oft been newsed My friend has lost time episodes From many years gone by Yet in her stories, written out There is a primal cry The urban wife she lived as once Was not prepared to deal With horrors of a veiled past Now has the hope to heal She looks so prim, her writes so grim Her memories very hazy When she spoke to those inside They certified her crazy They chemicaled and locked her up 'til quiet inside reigned Yet did not seek the causes of Why her mind was strained Little Rose now nine years old Has lived for fifty years Protecting she who is my friend From all those by gone fears The airing time has come at last The poison draining out Encysted pockets lanced with pain So healing's brought about Sweet Rose will bloom in tended bed With care and loving kindness For need of stealth and secrecy Like past, is all behind us Richard Higley © June 2011
