About the Author

I, Princess Carnell, was born and raised in San Francisco, California. In 1995, my daughter and I moved to Fairfield, California, where most of my family had moved to. I wanted to raise my daughter in a slower environment. I always knew I would be much more than a woman working a nine-to-five job. I discovered I had a business mind at eighteen or nineteen years old. When my grandmother got a wholesale license, so did I. My grandmother picked me to drive her and take her to places where various companies sold wholesale clothing, accessories, and other items. Right then and there, I knew I was going to be an entrepreneur and work for myself. After receiving my certificate in office management and working, I went to Solano Community College and took some business and accounting courses. I then went to Sunbridge Nursing School and became a certified nursing assistant and worked in the medical field for a while. I also became a central processing tech. After I received several certificates so that I could always have something to fall back on, I sold clothes through Princess Boutique for a few years, then I opened up my braiding salon called Princess Braids. After I closed Princess Braids, I went back to work for other companies. I start noticing that nothing was satisfying me until I started writing songs for my oldest daughter. I would write her songs that she would record and perform at several venues and places. With her voice and my songs, every time she would perform the songs, she would always receive great feedback. People used to ask her who wrote her songs, and she would say her mother. When I was writing songs, I used to notice that it would take me hours, sometimes one to two days. It was like it was coming fluently to me. After my daughter started doing plays, I would say to myself, “I could write plays.” I wrote my first play in 2009, and shortly after that, I started writing my first book. With one book finished since early 2013 and two other books halfway finished and a movie that I was working on back in 2011, I have had to put some of my things on hold for a while, but now I am focusing on all my work again. I feel I am on my way to what I have been trying to accomplish. This is just the beginning of so much more to come.
