About the Book

This practice book is by no means a grade-level resource. This is a compilation of the resources I used for those who came to seek my help. It covers from fifth grade to late high school. It covers number systems from complex, imaginary, real, irrational, rational, integer, whole, and counting numbers. In geometry, it touches from lines, two lines making angles, three lines making the first polygon, to circles. Statistics—averages, variance, standard deviation. And also normal distribution.

About the Author

After teaching for close to a decade in Atlanta area high schools, I decided to compile all the resources I used to help my students in tutorial in a practice booklet. I was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and moved to USA in 1996. I am a father of two daughters, Martha and Talem. I grew up in a close, tight-knit, and loving family who dedicated their entire life to make who I am now. My parents and one of my sisters had been street venders in the largest open market “Merkato ‘Buna Tera.’” I give special thanks to my father, who made me interested in math by giving me challenging multiplication problems and teaching me algorithms even though he did not get a chance to learn himself; my mom, who had wanted me to read virtually everything on any paper and all trademarks on the streets and then challenging me to read it the next day if I repeated the same, since she knew the place and I did not as a child; and my sisters, especially Etetye, who lost her life for her brother, who betrayed her in her last moments. I did not go to my mom’s, my dad’s, and my sister’s last moments. They are buried in me, and I wake up every morning with guilt but try to handle it by making sure my daughters are as happy as I once was. So this practice book is totally dedicated to those who contributed to my life, including my teachers.
