Algie didn't know how long he stayed there wishing . . . but as the sun came up, he opened his eyes and found he was no longer in the water. He looked around and found himself sitting on a low branch of a tree, which was hanging out over the water. At first he was startled to find himself looking down at the water instead of looking up at the trees. He felt such odd sensations too. He looked down at the branch and saw two funny looking orange sticks underneath him. "These must be legs," he thought, "and they are MINE!" He tried to move his legs and found he could move them pretty well after a few steps. His excitement rose. He edged his way down the tree limb to get closer to the water. Then he looked into the water and saw the reflection of a small round fluff of blue feathers with a pointed mouth and orange sticks for legs. He saw a BIRD . . . and it was HIM!

About the Book
A young fish who seemingly has a perfect life on the reef but becomes restless with the thought that he is missing something in life becomes fascinated with the birds in the air whose life, he believes, seems much more exciting than his. One night, under a full moon, he gets his wish to become a bird. His adventures as a bird tells the story of regret and the realization that not all dreams are worth wishing for; sometimes what we have is often the best thing for us all along.
About the Author
Carolee Russell was born and raised in and near Baltimore, Maryland. Painfully shy throughout her childhood and years at school, she slowly began to discover her self-worth in her senior year of high school. She has a talent for art and crafts which she has shared freely whenever an occasion has had a need for it, whether it be drawing paper doll clothes for the neighborhood children, designing posters and flyers for office social functions, teaching calligraphy, or creating three dimensional animals, half an ocean liner, carousel horses and a Cinderella coach for country club social functions. Her creative abilities are only constrained by her imagination. It was the insistence for stories from her granddaughters, Maureen and Mia, that opened up that magical experience for her. Ms Russell has also published Murder in the Haunted House, a murder mystery and party play.
