Unbeknownst to them, early on they taught me not to leave my equipment unattended too close to the tall spindly trees the morning that I returned to find my camera in pieces, lying smashed under a fallen cottonwood tree-top. This was, of course, a simple accident, as left to their own devices beavers are shy and unobtrusive, not like their rowdy neighbor the raven, a cunning rogue I'm positive would take fiendish delight in deliberately kicking snow off a roof for the sheer pleasure of seeing it fall on someone's head.

About the Book
The Hidden Habitat is the story of a young woman who ventures to Canada for the purpose of an in-depth study of the indigenous wildlife found in a particularly remote region. She finds herself both enthralled and mystified by a unique pair of young beavers that unexpectedly teach her about life and broaden her appreciation for the vast animal kingdom. She comes to an awareness of how all ecosystems and even life itself are interrelated.
