"My name is Moyosoreoluwa Sokunbi.
Comedy of disgrace is about the criticism of girls who lose their Virginity before marriage, what the community feels about them and how they are being ostracised, stigmatised and looked down upon. The book sets forth to explain that most girls may have lost their Virginity to one circumstance or the other and not always because of their ""waywardness"".
Ogonna is the lead character and a man in Iwu, in his mid-thirties and yet to settle down because of his inability to find a virgin forgetting how he had slaughtered the dignity of most girls in Iwu with his empty promises of making them his wife.
Nemesis caught up with him when he thought he had finally found his choice.
I personally have had same thoughts and convictions as Chesterfield except that he put them into creative writing.
While I recommend this book to all readers, I recommend it to teenagers both male and female mainly because it will resonate with them. The novel is mature enough for older people to read because there are some parts of it that proves that even married women who probably got married as virgins could be wayward.
My love for this play is centred on the cooperation of the girls when planning to deal with Ogonna, their singular and common enemy, the judgement passed by the igwe at the end of the book and also that it is set in a rural community.
The novel should be essential reading for readers looking for satirical books.
