Here are comments from the teachers: “Lots of humor.” “Lots of opportunities for predicting throughout the story.” “There was lots of action to keep students engaged and great dialogue from the chipmunks.” “I loved the play on words at the end!” “What a super way to review counting patterns, 2-D shapes and 3-D solids. I’m definitely adding this book to my collection of teaching books.” Here are some comments from students: “You get to learn something and laugh at the same time.” “I liked how chipmunks talked so, so fast and kept interrupting a lot—that was funny”

About the Author

About the Author and Her New Series Gwen Petreman is a Canadian author who has published nine books to date. She continues to write a balance of informational books that shine the spotlight on the environment and easy-to-read books designed to put a smile on a youngster’s face. Mrs. Chipley’s Chattering Children: Chianna’s Close Call is the first series of ten books about a family of four chipmunks and a mother. These series of books have many primary curriculum connections as Chount loves to count, Chape is crazy about shapes, and Chee is an expert on trees. In all the stories, the reader is drawn into finding a solution to the various predicaments faced by the chipmunks as they venture out on daily explorations of their woodland. The reader will be pleasantly surprised to learn that the chipmunks’ specific passions actually help them solve every sticky situation they encounter. About the Illustrator Since graduating from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University in 2008, Andrea has travelled and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator in Canada and abroad. Passionate about environmental issues, she hopes to bring awareness, encourage, and teach others how to participate in the fight against climate change.
