About the Book

Wagon Tracks: Across Kansas is a continuation of The Tennessee Mountain Man saga. Abel Strawn, one of Jack Leffingwell’s sharpshooters, has an opportunity to acquire land in the western Kansas Territory. On the surface, it seems like a good opportunity for him and his wife, Amanda. At the moment, they live with the senior Strawns in the Methodist Minister’s parsonage. Abel functions as assistant minister. Settling in Kansas would give them land and a home of their own. Trusting in the wisdom of Jack Leffingwell and encouraged by his friend’s approval, Abel and Amanda began the arduous journey in a prairie schooner. The year was 1869, in the midst of the Indian wars. It is a life-changing adventure for all concerned. A host of interesting characters intertwine with the young pioneers, most of whom grow into a lifelong influence. Falling Water, a Cheyenne Indian chief; his sister, White Dove; and a troubled hero by the name of Zachary Wheat become a part of the story and keep the pages turning.

About the Author

George Edward Moon is the author of three previous books: Reno’s Funmakers, The Virgin Killer, and The Tennessee Mountain Man. During his life experience, he has been artist, actor, athlete, businessman, and teacher. His acting career began at the age of one month when he was carried on stage in one of Reno’s Funmakers theatrical plays. By the time he reached the age of six, he no longer pursued a life tripping the light fantastic. His other achievements came much later. Educated in the sciences, Moon attended the Universities of Illinois, Southern Illinois, Governor’s State, and Olivet. His career as a chemist prompted his cofounding a sizeable manufacturing company in the Midwest. In 1985, it was acquired by a major corporation based in England, with Moon continuing as stateside manager for five years. Thereafter, he acted as consultant until retiring. Moon’s writing style is one in constant motion—like a wheel beginning with the hub, then branching out into other tales. Before it ends, he brings it back so that it all makes sense. His books reflect his fast-pace style and are an easy and enjoyable read. Now retired in Florida with his wife, Marilyn, he concentrates on the aesthetic principles of expression as well as his talent in oil painting, writing in the hot summer months, and painting during the pleasant winters.
