Two Good Deals

Two Good Deals is about Ken Deal and Shirley Deal, two kids who grew up on small farms in the 1920’s. Ken the last of ten children on a farm in North Texas near Plano, McKinney and Dallas. Shirley on a farm in Maryland just ten miles south of Washington, DC. They are the last living members of both the Taylor and Deal families of the generation known as the Greatest Generation. Shirley explains what life was like near the Nation’s Capitol before, during and after World War II. She portrays the details of her childhood, school years, and civilian career from birth up to her early twenties. Ken explains what life was like on two small farms in North Texas from his childhood years, brief civilian career and being drafted into military service. They were married December 2, 1949 in the Base Chapel at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska. The balance of the book covers their life together as they raised three children, completed a career in the United States Air Force. This was followed by a civilian career in real estate, combined with years of voluntary community service. They moved to a waterfront retirement facility known as Asbury Solomons in Solomons, Maryland in April of 2013. This book is primarily for the benefit of their three children, their spouses, and three grand children and their spouses and four great grand and all of those to follow. Executives and Marketing Directors of Trafford Publishing felt this book may be of interest to a wider audience than the Deal/Taylor family members, so at the insistence and continued interest, we agreed to the expansion of details that may also of interest to our many friends.
