Verse Versus Verse. I know that free verse is all the rage and much of that started with Mr. Ezra Pound. And it sure is the poetry of this modern age and he is a legendary poet renowned. The merits of free verse are to numerous to mention, if counted they probably could not be numbered. You can let your mind wander without exemption and write what you feel totally unencumbered. A literary movement not burdened by rhyme, you can do as you please when you compose. Nor do you need rhythm to help keep the time, just let it all flow and see where it goes. I think I'll embrace the free verse movement, this old rhyming habit I'll try to lose. In my writing I hope for a significant improvement, so the next time I write free verse I will choose. SOME TIME LATER. Well, I tried and I tried to think in free verse and I really hoped it would set me free. But I couldn't do it, it all seemed like a curse, so I guess in the end it's rhyming for me. About the Book
I have chosen thirty poems that cover a wide gamut of subjects. Some might make you chuckle or even laugh. Some might make you cry. Some are poignant or metaphorical. I think that the inspiration for any story starts with some experience the writer has had. These are some of mine.
About the Author
I started writing as a serious endeavor four years ago after I retired. Since then I have written over eighty poems, seven short stories, and I’ve converted eleven of my poems to music. This is my first attempt to publish my work. I hope the reader will connect with me and enjoy exploring the world of poetry as I do. Using rhyme and metaphor to tell a story—that’s what it is all about for me.
