Happily retired, Nan and her dog Dobro live in the Southern California desert close to the Mexican Border. To escape the summer heat, she and Dobro spend as much time as possible in the Laguna Mountains. Herman and his extended family live nearby providing regular inspiration for the Herman stories. When she is not up in the mountains, Nan teaches piano and mountain dulcimer and performs regularly with the Jugless Jug Band.

Carole has retired from a career as an educator in the New York City school system. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, but enjoys travel vacations all over the world. She has dedicated her life to introducing children to the joys of reading and hopes Herman’s Tales will open the doors to a lifelong appreciation of literature. Co-authoring the Herman books has been the fulfillment of one of the important wishes on her bucket list.
