Orville Saves Christmas

Michael woke up startled and surprised. Where was he? What had happened to him? The bedroom looked different than his room at home. Then he remembered. He was at Grandma and Grandpa’s house on the farm. His mother and father had travelled to a business convention and were going to be gone for two days. They would be coming to the farm on Christmas Eve. Michael jumped out of best and found his slippers. He also got a housecoat to put over his pyjamas. Then he knocked on the door of another bedroom down hall. “C’mon Sis wake up,” he said. His call was answered by the sleepy voice of his twin sister Michelle. She quickly got ready and went downstairs with Michael to see what Grandma would have for breakfast. Christmas time and winter meant snow and cold so a warm breakfast would be great. Breakfast certainly woke up the children. They had porridge, hot chocolate, and a cinnamon bun fresh out of Grandma’s oven. After breakfast the twins asked Grandma what they could do for the day. “Well,” said Grandma, “there are two days before Christmas arrives so lots of things need to be done to get ready. Some Christmas lights have to be put outside on the house, we need firewood for the fireplace and the Christmas tree needs to be decorated. I want to do some more baking too. It is a good thing you children are here to help us do all these things.”
